DESCRIPTION:Please join us as we welcome Dr. John Palatucci for an upcoming seminar which will be held in the 5th floor conference room at IFH and offered via Zoom. \nJohn Palatucci\, PhD\, MPA\, CPH\, Medicaid Research Scholar at Rutgers Center for State Health Policy and NJLEND Discipline Coordinator – Public Health at Elizabeth M. Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities\, will discuss The Association of Medicaid Redesign with Changes in Inpatient Hospitalizations: Differences by Race/Ethnicity among Young Adults with Intellectual Disabilities in New York City (2011-2017). \nJohn is a health services and policy researcher at the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy. He recently completed his doctoral studies in Health Systems and Policy at the Rutgers School of Public Health. In his research\, he applies econometric techniques to the study of behavioral health and disability policy. He has taught courses in health policy\, outcomes research\, and health economics. At Rutgers University\, he has completed both the New Jersey Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (NJLEND) fellowship and the Eagleton Graduate Fellowship Program in Politics and Government. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from American University and a Master of Public Administration in Healthcare Administration from the Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration. DESCRIPTION:Please join us as we welcome Dr. Charleen Adams for an upcoming seminar which will be held in the 5th floor conference room at IFH and offered via Zoom. *If you plan to join in person\, please let me or Angelina Lowder know. \nCharleen Adams\, PhD\, MPH\, Research Fellow and Lead Scientist in the Environmental Health Department at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health\, will discuss Do air pollution and/or economic disparity speed brain aging? Mendelian randomization – what it is and how to use it to find out.  \nPublic-health geneticist and molecular epidemiologist with 17 years designing and executing a wide range of epidemiological studies in humans. Presently a research fellow in the Nadeau lab in Environmental Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Experience in biotech\, government\, academia\, and consulting (offering R&D guidance for an aging-research start-up and surveillance for the State of Washington). Multidisciplinary training applied at three cancer-research centers: National Cancer Institute\, Fred Hutch\, and City of Hope. Tech savvy: proficiency in R\, bash\, advanced causal-inference methods\, and applied statistical genetics; bioinformatics tools and Python employed on an ad-hoc basis. Teaching experience in genomics\, writing\, and rhetoric at three universities. Committed mentor to more-junior scientists and enthusiastic science communicator and writer. Particular expertise in integrative\, molecular approaches for mechanistic insights that can provide evidence for or against clinical trials. Comfortable harnessing new biological technologies\, such as the latest omics. Visionary with ideas for identifying those susceptible to disease years in advance and for predicting biomarkers of treatment response (vs prognosis) in patients.
