“Pediatric Literacy Promotion for Latino Families”

Manuel Jimenez, MD, MS, Associate Professor of Pediatrics & Family Medicine and Community Health, Research Director at the Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School

Primary care–based literacy promotion is standard of care in pediatrics. This presentation will share findings from a series of community engaged research studies designed to optimize primary care based literacy promotion for Latino families.
Bio: Manuel “Manny” Jimenez, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics & Family Medicine and Community Health, Research Director at the Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and an Attending Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician at Children’s Specialized Hospital. He is also the co-lead for the New Jersey Alliance on Clinical and Translational Science Community Engagement Core. His work focuses on promoting optimal relational and developmental health for children and families and making the health system more responsive to their needs. Dr. Jimenez uses quantitative, qualitative, and community-based participatory research methods to ask policy-relevant research questions as well as propose and test sustainable solutions to real-world problems impacting children and their families.
