Joel St. Germain graduated summa cum laude from Hunter College with a B.A. in Clinical Psychology. He has a strong background in art and music. His research interests focus on individual differences in neurobiology and behavioral genetics in clinical populations with mental health conditions. His particular interests include the structural and cognitive effects of untreated psychosis, the mechanisms underlying aberrant salience, personality disorders, and the underlying bases of emotion regulation. In addition, he is interested in evaluating the effectiveness of positive psychology interventions to improve health outcomes, particularly in hard-to-reach populations and individuals experiencing profound psychological dysfunction. He is currently a Research Assistant at the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research.
