Ashwaghosha Parthasarathi, MBBS

Dr. Parthasarathi is a physician-scientist who studies how a changing environment is reshaping human health, with a particular focus on the lungs. His work examines the respiratory consequences of environmental exposures, such as extreme heat, air pollution, and flooding, across the life course. It begins with how these exposures shape lung development in children, who face distinct exposure patterns and heightened vulnerability, and extends to their acute and long-term effects in adults and their links to broader chronic disease. Throughout, he is especially attentive to the highly exposed and under-resourced communities that bear a disproportionate share of climate-related risk. Combining large healthcare and cohort datasets with geospatial analysis and epidemiologic methods, his research aims to generate evidence that informs clinical care, public health, and health equity in a changing climate.
