Daniel W.L. Lai is Chair Professor and Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in the Hong Kong Baptist University. He was the Director of Institute of Active Ageing and Head of Department of Applied Social Sciences in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University between 2016 and 2020. Before working in Hong Kong since 2016, he was Professor and Associate Dean (Research & Partnership) of Faculty of Social Work in The University of Calgary. His expertise includes health and aging, culture and immigration, and outcome evaluation. His research has gained world recognition with him named as World’s Top 2% Scientist in the field of public health and health services. Other than conducting research in the area of population ageing, Professor Lai served on the Board of Directors of the American Society on Aging and Canadian Association of Gerontology in the past. He is also current Vice-President of the Hong Kong Association of Gerontology as well as appointed member of the Elderly Commission of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region.
