This summer, the Rutgers Center for Biomedical Informatics and Health AI hosted two bootcamp programs to introduce Rutgers Health postdoctoral trainees and graduate students to the value of using artificial intelligence in healthcare and biomedical applications.

Dmitry Scherbakov, Senior Data Scientist, Medical University of South Carolina, led a virtual bootcamp on “Hands-on AI-assisted Scoping Review Practicum,” which covered the full workflow of conducting a quick but comprehensive scoping review, from refining a research question to drafting a manuscript.

W. Evan Johnson, Director of the Rutgers Institute for Data Science, Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and Associate Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Health AI, led a hybrid bootcamp on “Machine Learning for RNA-seq: From Bioinformatics to Predictive Models,” which provided hands-on project-oriented training and focused on the theoretical foundations of state-of-the-art health-related data science, machine learning, and AI techniques.

37 students took part in the two bootcamps and received digital badges upon completion.
