On July 8, 2024, a group of ethicists affiliated with the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research and other colleagues from Rutgers gathered via Zoom to offer guidance to GiveWell on how to judge the impact of some new possible contributions GiveWell may make.

GiveWell is a nonprofit that aims to find charitable giving opportunities that help donors do as much good as possible with their donations. Since different charities provide different kinds of benefits, comparing these benefits poses normative challenges.
