NJACTS Special Populations Core 2022 Seminar Series: Culturally Re-Centering Evidence-Based Treatments Among Indigenous Communities presented by Katherine (Kait) Hirchak, PhD, Assistant Professor, Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University.

Dr. Hirchak is a federally recognized descendant of the Eastern Shoshone. In this seminar, Professor Hirchak will discuss approaches to culturally adapting evidence-based treatments among Indigenous communities with a focus on contingency management and medications for opioid use disorder. For almost 15 years, she has partnered with Tribal communities to address health inequities and enhance well-being. Dr. Hirchak’s research interests, activities, and training include health policy, assessing alcohol and substance use disorder interventions among American Indian and Alaska Native communities, conducting clinical trials and mixed-methods research in diverse settings, and culturally adapting evidence-based interventions.
