Join us on Tuesday, April 25, at 1 pm ET for a presentation of the NJ ACTS Special Populations Core 2023 Seminar Series – The Role of Resilience in Addressing Biopsychosocial and Neurocognitive Health Outcomes in Older Adults Living with HIV/AIDS with Kristen Krause, PhD, MPH.

Due to the advancement of biomedical interventions, people living with HIV/AIDS are living longer, putting them at increased risk for experiencing neurocognitive, mental health, or psychosocial challenges that impact their overall health and well-being. Resilience, also known as the ability to bounce back from or overcome challenging situations may help to lessen the effect of these health-related challenges. This presentation will highlight findings from two different studies showing how resilience may act as a buffer against negative health outcomes among older adults living with HIV/AIDS.

Kristen D. Krause, PhD, MPH (she/her/hers), is an instructor of Urban Health in the Department of Urban-Global Public Health at the Rutgers University School of Public Health (SPH) and the Deputy Director of the Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (CHIBPS), a leading training ground for LGBTQ scholars. She has expertise in HIV/AIDS, aging, resilience, and broader LGBTQ health disparities. More specifically, her work examines resilience as it relates to biological, psychological, and social health states among older gay HIV+ men.
