Please join us for our next Brown Bag Seminar featuring IFH’s very own Benjamin Bates, MD, core member of IFH’s Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science and RBHS Instructor. Dr. Bates will be discussing his research on “Three Spheres of Cancer Survivorship Research: Novel Treatments, Climate Change, and Oncoprimary Care.”

Dr. Bates is a general internist, pharmacoepidemiologist and health services researcher in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Rutgers-RWJMS and a core member of the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science at the Institute for Health. He uses large databases (e.g., SEER-Medicare) and a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate the care and health outcomes of patients with cancer. His three areas of research evolve around the evaluation of novel cancer treatments (use, benefits, and risks), the impact of climate change on cancer treatment and health outcomes, and the involvement of primary care clinicians in the care of cancer survivors during and soon after cancer treatment. He has received funding from the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research, the Robert E. Leet and Clara Guthrie Patterson Trust Mentored Research Award, and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey to support his research.
