Join us on Wednesday, May 24, at 1 pm ET for a presentation of the NJ ACTS Special Populations Core 2023 Seminar Series – Incarceration, Health, and the Life Course with Nathan Link, PhD.

Professor Nathan Link will discuss his research on the connections between incarceration and health, including how mental and physical health states impact life transitions including development into adulthood and reentry from prison. He focuses on both juveniles and adult populations and will address policy and practice considerations aiming to mitigate health-related issues among the justice-system involved.

Professor Link is a criminologist, assistant professor, and director of the graduate program in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice. He is also affiliated with the Health Sciences Center and the graduate program in prevention science. Given his background in social work, he aims to create knowledge that can improve both public policy and the lives of those in contact with the justice system. He primarily researches issues in corrections and sentencing, including financial sanctions and debt, prisoner reentry and desistance from crime, mental/physical health, and crime/recidivism control strategies.
