Speaking Out against Anti-Asian Racism and Violence against Older Adults

Event Details

Join us for an event examining anti-Asian racism and violence against older adults.

We are inviting gerontological scholars and allies to have a discussion on ways to address anti-Asian racism in order to contribute to individual and structural change through research, teaching and social justice advocacy. We emphasize the need to examine shared concerns of minority older adults who are disproportionately impacted by racism and acts of oppression through an intersection of race, age, gender, immigration status and social class.

This event is co-sponsored by the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work (AGESW), Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR), and Asian Pacific Islander Social Work Educator Association (APISWEA).

For further questions about the event, please contact AGESW president, Dr. Tam Perry (teperry@wayne.edu).
