Donna M Nickitas, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, CNE, FNAP, FAAN

Dr. Nickitas is the Executive Officer of the Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Program at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She is also a Professor in the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing at Hunter College.

Dr. Nickitas is the editor of Nursing Economic$, Journal for Health Care Leaders. She is the author of three book, and a co-editor of the 3rd Edition of Policy and Policies for Nurses and Other Health Professional. She has over 80 peer-reviewed publications. Her current research includes the Nurse Practice Environment: A Cultural Intervention. She continues to explore peer mentoring in nursing students in research-focused doctoral programs and service-learning and community engagement. Dr. Nickitas is the Co-Chair of the American Academy of Nursing, Raise the Voice Campaign Committee, Secretary of Sigma MarketPlace, Sigma Theta Tau National Honor, Treasure of the Eastern Regional Nursing Society and Vice Chair of the Nursing Section of the New York Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Nickitas is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, fellow of the National Academies of Practice and a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. She is the 2015 recipient of the National League for Nursing Mary Nutting Award for Outstanding Teaching or Leadership in Nursing Education and the 2017 recipient of the Connecticut Nurses Association Josephine A. Dolan Diamond Jubilee Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nursing Education.

Dr. Nickitas earned a B.S. in Nursing from SUNY Stony Brook University, a M.A. in Nursing from New York University, and a PhD in Nursing from Adelphi University.
