Erica L. Eliason, Ph.D., M.P.H. has joined the Rutgers School of Public Health Department of Urban-Global Public Health as an assistant professor. She is also a member of the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy within the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research.
Eliason is a health services researcher who focuses much of her work on the effects of health policies on maternal, child, and reproductive health and health equity, with a particular emphasis on Medicaid and CHIP policies.
“I am excited to join the Rutgers School of Public Health and contribute to the mission of advancing health through an equity and social justice lens,” Eliason said. “I look forward to collaborating with the community and stakeholders to promote health outcomes across New Jersey.”
“We are excited to have Dr. Eliason join the Department of Urban-Global Public Health,” said Leslie M. Kantor, professor and chair of the department. “She is examining the impact of some of the most important policies in the United States on maternal and infant health. Dr. Eliason adds to the school’s growing strength in reproductive and maternal health research and brings outstanding training, methodological rigor, and a deep commitment to equity in her work.”
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Eliason to the faculty at the Center for State Health Policy,” said Joel Cantor, Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and director of the Center. “Dr. Eliason’s scholarship on access to care and outcomes among Medicaid beneficiaries will enhance the work by the center and strengthen our collaborations with other faculty at the Rutgers School of Public Health.”
