IFH Director to Speak at Hill Briefing on Elder Violence During COVID-19

Institute for Health Director Dr. XinQi Dong will join fellow health and advocacy experts on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at 12 p.m. EST, for a virtual congressional briefing on preventing and addressing elder abuse during COVID-19. The speakers will discuss an observed increase of incidents during the pandemic and ways to reduce abuse, among other topics.

The briefing is presented by the National Health Collaborative on Violence and Abuse, Futures Without Violence, Elder Justice Coalition, Alzheimer’s Association and the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement, along with honorary congressional hosts U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) and Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who are co-chairs of the bipartisan Elder Justice Caucus.

Dr. Dong is a geriatrician and population health epidemiologist, and has published extensively on violence prevention, elder justice and healthy aging.
